Infantrymen from across the 3rd Brigade Combat Team spent early May training to prepare themselves to earn the Expert Infantryman Badge on Fort Bragg.
Highly valued by Infantrymen, earning the EIB is a testament to the Paratrooper’s technical skill, tactical knowledge and physical endurance.
Testing for the EIB occurred the second week of May on Fort Bragg, requiring candidates to succeed in a grueling evaluation culminating in a 12-mile timed ruckmarch.
The 2019 Janney Cup tested the junior officers in the brigade to prove their mettle and tactical knowledge.
Over a series of events spanning two days, the Lieutenants completed the Ranger Physical Assessment Test, a 2-mile kit run and the All American Mile and much more.
For the third year in a row, a Mortar Team from 1st Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division has won the U.S. Army’s Best Mortar Competition.
The team was composed of Staff Sgt. James Pennington, Sgt. Alex Norton, Spc. Christian Elliot and Pfc. Loren Dow and celebrated their victory at a formal ceremony on April 11, 2019.
The competition held in early April at Fort Benning, Georgia, was a multi-day event drawing teams in from across the U.S. Army.
Events during the competition tested every team’s ability to work together through a series of mental, physical and tactical evaluations.
