Panther Recon Spouses Earn Spurs

Recon paratroopers and families gathered at Fort Bragg’s Pike Field Thursday, April 18, 2019 to conduct a Spouse Spur Ride.

The Spouse Spur Ride consisted of a series of events helping spouses of paratroopers understand the daily duties of their paratrooper and the history and heritage of the U.S. Army Cavalry.

The first event required paratroopers to apply camouflage to their spouse’s face before they departed to conduct simulated convoy operations.  Next, the spouses returned to Pike Field to perform a physical fitness session before learning more about the various weapons, vehicles and equipment employed by a Recon Squadron in the 82nd Airborne Division. The day concluded with a formal “Spurring” of the Spouses where they received Silver Spurs in honor of their completion of the Spur Ride and their dedication to supporting their paratrooper.
